The Office of Worship promotes the liturgical and spiritual life of the faithful. Through collaborative efforts on celebrations, workshops, and resources, the Office of Worship helps enrich liturgies and devotions, and oversees diocesan liturgies and liturgies presided over by the Bishop.
The Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion is celebrated annually in February, both in Tucson and Yuma, by the adult catechumens and candidates preparing to receive the Easter Sacraments. Parish RCIA Directors are working with the Diocesan Office of Worship for the preparation of these rites.
Parish celebrations of the Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion may also be celebrated by the pastor at a suitable time. The First Sunday of Lent is the recommended time. The parish script is available from the Office of Worship.
The Bishop celebrates the Chrism Mass each year in April alongside most of the priests in the Diocese of Tucson. At this special Mass, the three Chrism Oils are blessed then distributed to the parishes.
All are welcome to join with Bishop Weisenburger and the priests of the Diocese of the Blessing of the Oil of the Sick and the Oil of Catechumens, and the Consecration of the Sacred Chrism used in Baptism, Confirmation, the Ordination of priests and the Dedication of Churches.
The Bishop celebrates the Red Mass each year in October to pray for law enforcement and first responders.
