The 2nd chapter of Acts contains the written account of the Holy Spirit coming among the Apostles and many others gathered to hear those who were speaking in tongues. Many in the crowd were bewildered when they understood the spoken word even though their languages were different from that of the speaker.

It is through our baptism that we share in the grace which leads to an understanding that “remarkable wonders” can be done through us. More often than not, small acts of service done for others become “remarkable wonders.”

How does the Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA) fit into this context? It is through the generosity of parishioners from every parish in our Diocese that thousands of needy among us are served by the twenty-three charities and ministries of our Catholic Appeal. No single parish or any one agency can provide everything our faith communities need. However, when each of us supports the ACA “remarkable wonders” are accomplished. Here are a few of them:

• 904 RCIA candidates participated in formation
• 16 seminarians are being prepared for ordination
• 35 retired priests are receiving support
• 73 confirmation ceremonies were celebrated
• 3, 095 people received the Sacrament of
Confirmation
• 30 men are participating in deaconate formation
• 435 individuals were served through the Tribunal
office
• 8, 085 children and young adults participated in
formation classes
• 485 adults participated in formation classes
• 7, 500 students in 28 schools are served through our
Catholic Schools organization
• 1, 000’s were served through C.C.S. agencies
