Immaculate Heart Elementary School, Tucson

Theme for the Week: Dividends for Life. Students are prepared in Knowledge, Discipline, Morals, and Faith.

Monday -- Focus on Faith and Morals through service to Community. Students begin drive to collect gently used jackets, sweaters, and blankets for the students of St. Charles School on the San Carlos Apache Reservation near Globe.

Tuesday -- Focus on Knowledge and Faith and Discipline through Students. Teachers create a lesson plan and discuss Catholic Schools Week theme with students. Lesson will encourage students to strategize how the theme of this week will pay "dividends" for their future. Celebrate the Winter Olympics. Students will still wear uniforms bottoms, but are able to embellish their ensemble with jerseys and/or hats and/or socks representing their favorite sport or sports team. No homework today!!!

Wednesday -- Focus on Morals and Faith through service to our Sisters of the Immaculate Heart. Each class will "adopt" a Sister and create a small classroom (totally made and created in class) gift to present to the Sister (examples: spiritual bouquet, poster, cards, paper flowers, etc.) Pre-School and Pre-Kindergarten Open House from 6-7:30 p.m. Includes a visit from Mr. Eddie of the Nanini Library, art and curriculum displays, homemade cookies!

Thursday -- Focus on "Dividends" received from Staff and Volunteers. Home and School will provide light breakfast goodies for staff and faculty. Students create cards for our staff (office, lunch, recess, custodial, etc.)

Friday -- Focus on Faith and the "Dividends" of our Grandparents. Grandparents Day. All-School Mass to celebrate Catholic Schools Week and Grandparents' Day, 9 a.m. in the Gym.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School, Tucson

Monday -- Book Fair and Science Fair Display. Science Fair Projects will be displayed and the Book Fair will continue.

Tuesday -- Diocesan Appreciation Day. Mrs. Shadonix will have a cookie bouquet delivered to the Diocese on behalf of all staff and students. The Book Fair will continue in the Gym.

Wednesday -- Teacher and Staff Appreciation Day. Teachers and staff will be honored with a special lunch coordinated by the Hospitality Committee.

Thursday -- Parent and Volunteer Appreciation Day. Parents and volunteers are invited to 9:00 a.m. Mass where they will be honored with a flower. Student Council officers and members will distribute the flowers to the parents and volunteers at Mass. After Mass, volunteers will be invited for a small reception in the Conference Room. Homeroom Teachers should have the students write poems or make cards for their parents to send home. The theme of the poem or card is "Thank You for My Catholic Education – Dividends for Life." Individual classes will have Open House visits between 10:10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Students will be dismissed at 1:00 p.m.

Friday -- Student Appreciation Day and Read-A-Thon. Students will participate in a Read-A-Thon from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The goal is to read and collect at least 500 books school-wide. Fifth grade is sponsoring a "Book Drive" and collecting these books for local underprivileged schools. Students will be dismissed at 1:00 p.m.

Sts. Peter and Paul School, Tucson

Thursday -- Student Appreciation Day. No homework! Free Dress Day.
Friday -- Volunteer and Parent Appreciation Day, 8:30 Mass recognition, continental breakfast.

St. John the Evangelist School, Tucson
 
Monday -- Alumni Day. Alumni are invited to spend an hour in a classroom to share his/her experience at St. John School and how Catholic Schooling has impacted his/her life. 

Tuesday -- Parent Appreciation Day. Parents will receive a letter from their child thanking them for the opportunity to go to St. Johns, and they will pass out donuts and coffee to parents.
 
Wednesday -- Catholic Schools Week Rally at Arizona State Capitol
 
Thursday -- Clergy and Staff Appreciation Day. Students will make "thank you" cards for clergy and staff  for their dedication and commitment to Catholic Schools.   
 
Friday -- Student Appreciation Day. Faculty will thank students for dedication and commitment to their own Catholic School with Mass, an Eegees' Party, and this Catholic Schools Week of themed dress down days.

St. Francis of Assisi School, Yuma

Monday -- Crazy hair and crazy sock day and our kinder - 4th grade will have a field day.

Tuesday -- Inside out and backward day and blessing of the throats for St. Blaise day.

Wednesday -- School Spelling Bee. 

Thursday -- Take your child to lunch day. Parents have a two hour block to take their children to lunch. 

Friday -- School Mass and the 6th through 8th grade dance with Immaculate Conception students. 

Sunday -- School Mass at the 11 am Mass. What a week!

St. Joseph School, Tucson

Monday -- "Enhance the School Environment." Cleaning all of the school grounds and classrooms, weather permitting. Collecting diapers.

Tuesday -- "Support Staff Appreciation Day." Collecting baby food.

Wednesday -- "Family Appreciation Day." Continental breakfast, in the Library, after assembly, for our parents and grandparents. Collecting new books and new toys.

Thursday -- "Student Spirit Day." Wear pajamas with shoes. Collecting clothing.

Friday -- "Teacher/Staff Appreciation Day." Special Assembly to present our donations to a St. Elizabeth of Hungary Clinic representative, 9:00 school Mass, and luncheon for faculty/staff. Jr. High Dance, sponsored by NJHS. 8th Grade Talent Show donations and $1.00 Jean Day donations -- all proceeds to be donated to St. Elizabeth of Hungary Clinic. Sister Ruthmary, Assistant Superintendent, visiting all day.

Santa Cruz School, Tucson

Monday -- 9:00 AM: All School prayer service to launch the week. Students write a letter to their parents/ grandparents/guardian, Classroom Teachers, thanking them for providing them with a Catholic education. Book Fair open until 4:00 PM

Tuesday -- Staff Appreciation Day.12:45: 8th Grade serves lunch to Staff                       
Book Fair open until 4:00.           

Wednesday -- Family Appreciation Day. 7:15 AM: Snack Breakfast provided for adults who bring children to school – distributed in the parking lot by staff. Bags decorated during art class. Children take their letters of appreciation home to families. Book Fair open until 4:00 PM Sr.

Thursday -- Student Appreciation Day. Free dress day, with emphasis on "crazy socks." 12:40:  Staff-Student Volleyball Games Book Fair open until 4:00 PM            No homework for students

Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic School, Tucson

During the week the school will sponsor a book drive of gently used, and new books to benefit those in need.

Friday -- The 10:30 a.m. School Mass will be celebrated by our pastor, Monsignor Tom Cahalane. After Mass, we will cap our celebration of Catholic Schools Week with a free lunch served to all students and their parents.

A Catholic Schools Week breakfast is held to honor students who are role models of the Catholic values we embrace. Each teacher selects one student to salute and parents are invited to the event.

Our Seton Breakfast honors two individuals in our community who have made significant contributions to Catholic education and who model the leadership, compassion, faith, generosity and social justice exemplified by Elizabeth Ann Seton.

he spirit of Catholic Schools Week is celebrated in our annual Jamboree, as the community gathers for Mass and a day of fun, fellowship and field activities. This year's theme is "Jamboree: 60 Reasons to Celebrate Salpointe" on the occasion of this, our 60th year!

San Miguel Catholic High School, Tucson


San Miguel is having a Social Justice Fair put on by Campus Ministry, Lasallian Youth, the National Honor Society, the National Spanish Honor Society and the Praise Band. For our Student Service Challenge, the faculty will challenge students to put their faith into action through service. The week culminates with Mass on Friday.

St. Cyril of Alexandria School, Tucson

Monday through Thursday students will be showing their cougar Spirit through the outfits they wear to school: Pajama Day, Cougar Spirit Day, Sports Day, Biblical Character Day
 
Tuesday -- Annual visitation day. Parents from throughout the community are invited to come and see the wonderful things that are happening at our school. At school Mass we will be honoring our students and all the things they do to promote the SLEs and mission statement of St. Cyril.  The Student Council will be presenting a cougar Pep Rally
 
Thursday -- Sr. Rosa Maria Ruiz, our Superintendent of Catholic Schools, will be joining us for her annual school visit. The School Board is hosting a school community spaghetti dinner for the entire family. During dinner the principal will be addressing the attendees on the positive state of the school. The junior high students will be serving and also will be making the delectable desserts for all.
 
Friday -- The staff will be honored during our morning prayer service. After school all faculty and staff will be heading over to the bowling ally to celebrate the gifts we bring to the school.  We will bowl two games and enjoy various refreshments.
 
We will be having our off school evacuation this week: not sure what day. We will be walking to one of our off school evacuation sites -- the movie theater. After we get there, students will be treated to an age appropriate movie. After the movie they will be walking back to campus.

Sacred Heart School, Nogales

Cloth banners made by students about the theme of Catholic Schools Week,are hung on the pillars inside Sacred Heart Church for the week.

Monday -- Walking Rosary and Litany of the Virgin Mary.

Tuesday -- Skit based on Bible story or lesson in Religion Textbook (4th and 5th).

Wednesday -- Prayer Link. Each classroom composes a prayer and physically forms one link of a full Student Body circle.

Thursday: Skit based on Bible story or lesson in Religion Textbook (6th, 7th, 8th).

Friday -- Father Martinez.

A personal card has been made, with the Catholic Schools' Week logo on the cover and given to each classroom to send to the seminarian, from our parish that was assigned to the classroom in August.  In these the students will request the seminarian's prayers for the students of Sacred Heart Catholic School during Catholic School Week. 

St. Thomas the Apostle Pre-School, Tucson


We will create a prayer chain with students' prayers. At Wednesday's community prayer discussion about John:10 1-15 ,"The Good Shepard," students will decorate a paper sheep and bring to church. As a community, we will create a poster to display titled "God Is Our Shepard."

St. Ambrose School, Tucson

Thursday -- Red, White and Blue Day. Morning prayers for all deployed soldiers with children in ASCS. Donuts with Dad – 7:45 – 8:15 a.m. in the Parish Hall . Students will make Valentines to send to soldiers who are deployed. Patriotic Rosary  2:30 p.m.

Friday -- Catholic Schools Week T-shirt Day. School Mass begins with Benediction as this is First Friday
